Main Responsibilities:
• Provide engineering support for product packaging from concept through production across all three categories (Stationery, Lighter and Shaver).
• Create and maintain packaging specifications, including pallet patterns and package die lines.
• Assist in the development, maintenance and implementation of department SOPs.
• Communicating with internal customers such as Sales, Marketing, Manufacturing and our packaging facilities.
• Work with suppliers to source materials and obtain packaging costs.


Minimum Requirements: 

 
• Applicant must be working towards a B.S. in Packaging Engineering
• Must have completed 2 years of school with half of the Packaging Engineering courses.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with marketing, manufacturing, buyers/planners, shipping and suppliers.
• Software experience should include: Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Adobe Illustrator and TOPS. SolidWorks/ProE and JDE mainframe is a plus.


Successful candidates require passing drug test and undergoing security check.

EBA&D seeks a candidate for the position of Junior Packaging Engineer, reporting to the Document & Data Control Manager.  The position is located in Simsbury, CT.  Relocation assistance is not provided.  


 

Responsibilities:

The Junior Packaging Engineer supports the Packaging Engineering function and is responsible for designing and implementing packaging methods to insure conformance to DOT and customer specifications to support the successful delivery of products.

 

·         Assist Packaging Engineer in supporting UNPOP testing

·         Generate specifications, drawings and packaging instructions to comply with Customer and DOT requirements.

·         Uploading specifications and certifications into ERP (IFS) system.

·         Design packaging to safely deliver a wide variety of energetic products.

·         Assist Packaging Engineer in obtaining Competent Authority approvals


Requirements:

The successful candidate must have a BS degree in Package Engineering/Packaging Science with packaging design experience in a manufacturing environment.

 
Required skills include:

·         Design work utilizing wood, corrugated, foam in a manufacturing environment

·         Proficient with Microsoft office suite software (Word, Powerpoint, and Excel)

·         Must be organized, able to multitask and meet commitments

·         Hazardous materials packaging a plus

·         Ability to interpret and analyze requirements including Military specifications

·         Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.

·         Must be able to work effectively in a team environment.

The Packaging Engineer will be responsible for primary and secondary package development, on-pack and in-pack promotions, point of purchase displays, material and supplier qualifications, cost saving initiative and assist with packaging automation when required.

Main Responsibilities / Tasks

Reporting to the Area Manager Packaging Engineering, the Packaging Engineer is responsible for providing merchandising/packaging options that meet the requirements of our customers. The ideal candidate will have experience in the Consumer Packaged Goods industry planning and executing projects from conception thru to commercialization, working cross functionally with different internal departments (Customer Marketing, Brand, Sales, etc.).

Among the more specific aspects of the position are the following:

·         Manage multiple packaging projects, package development, point of purchase displays, value analysis, and cost savings initiatives.

·         Packaging specification development for all channels.

·         Develop and implement packaging concepts by interfacing with Marketing, Sales, Trade Marketing, Supply Chain/Operations and suppliers. 

·         Manage all aspects of third party-supplier relationships including assigning bills of material and reducing packaging costs.

·         Develop strong relationships and communicate effectively to manage projects with Brand Managers, Product Development, Purchasing, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Suppliers, and global counterparts.

·         Hold discussions during product team meetings; communicate technical issues and details to the project team and management.

·         Must be able to work across the full management environment including working with BIC senior management

·         Bachelor’s Degree Required. Preferably in Packaging Engineering or Mechanical Engineering. 

·         5 – 10 years of packaging development and commercialization experience in CPG environment.

·         Ability to work effectively in a deadline intensive environment

·         Strong communication/interpersonal skills

·         Strategic and tactical decision-making ability using sound scientific principles and data

·         Demonstrated ability to direct suppliers through design, development and improvement projects

·         Self- starter, proactive, career focused with the ability to work with minimal supervision

·         Ability to develop and nurture cross-functional relationships

Scope of work from engineering ideation, prototype part development and sampling, preliminary pricing drawings, production part refinement and final drawing for finished pricing and final assembly.

Participate in client and design meetings to help refine concepts relative to materials and costs.
