Stanley Black & Decker is the world’s leading producer of hand, pneumatic and power tools.  We are seeking talented and motivated Packaging Engineers to join our team in New Britain, CT. Our team is focused on hand tools under the Stanley, Bostitch, Black & Decker and DeWALT Brands.

As a Packaging Engineer with Stanley Black & Decker you’ll have an opportunity to work with a global team of talented Designers, Engineers and Product Managers. You will support our ongoing efforts to deliver products that help people to build and repair the world we live in.

Essential Duties:

• Understand Packaging Process 
• Work with global packaging team and suppliers to develop packaging requirements, material specifications and project priorities. 
• Create / optimize packaging structure to maximize quality based on regionally available materials and qualify through testing. 
• Coordinate specifications, labeling and approvals of packaging structures. 
• Ability to troubleshoot problems with current product packaging

 
Needed Knowledge and Skills:

• Must have a passion for packaging design 
• Deep understanding of manufacturing processes as it pertains to packaging design 
• Strong knowledge of packaging materials (paperboard, corrugated, plastic), and characteristics for packaging structural design 
• Working knowledge of printing, die-cutting & molding processes 
• Familiar with ArtiosCAD, AutoCAD and Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop 
• Experience with Kongsberg Table 
• Excellent Microsoft Office Skill (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) 
• Excellent creative problem solving 
• Good sketching and visualizing skills 
• Self motivated and a positive attitude 
• Ability to work with teams 
• Ability to Multi-task 
• Must have strong project and time management skills 
• Ability to perform under pressure
• Experience working with Consumer Good Packaging is a plus
• Product Center and/or SAP experience is a plus 

 
Education or Experience:

• BS or BA degree (1-3 years) required within Packaging Engineering/Science. Degrees.
• Associate 1+ years experience in packaging engineering or packaging design (Co-op/ Internship applicable) 
• 0-3 years experience in packaging engineering or packaging design(Co-op/ Internship applicable to experience)
